Programs and Initiatives

TENTS4YOUTH PROJECT

SCAAD Initiative established the Train, Empower, Nurture & Triumph (TENT) program for girls and women in vulnerable communities within the FCT in February 2022. The program encourages participants to have multiple sources of income, including collecting recyclable materials for sale to interested companies at designated centers. SCAAD Initiative has already impacted the lives of 5 women who are now earning from recycling. The program currently covers the Idu-Karmo Area of FCT, promoting environmental sustainability and empowering women.

BACK2SCHOOL PROJECT

SCAAD Initiative launched its Back2School program in Numan and Song local government areas of Adamawa state by supporting volunteer staff, including Mrs. Angela Salah, a teacher with a great passion for girls' education. The program established three peer learning clubs, each with an average of 30 girls, in Zangun, Ngbalang, and Murke. Through the program, girls are learning valuable vocational skills such as bead making, headpiece crafting, and cake baking, as well as producing items like Vaseline, detergent, and hand sanitizers to sell and improve their family income. The proceeds from sales are also used to pay for school fees, promoting education and empowerment in these communities.

YARAN ILIMI CLUB

SCAAD Initiative established the Sustainable Approach to Teens Education (SATE) Project to train young teens on sustainable approaches to tackle climate change by reducing, reusing, and recycling products starting from their homes and environment. Through the Yaran Ilimi Club, an average of 30 teens (both boys and girls) aged 10 to 18 years meet monthly to embark on educational trips to recycling plants in Adamawa, produce creative works using waste materials, and improve their reading skills through club reading activities. Thanks to the support of donors, the teens have access to motivational books and educational materials to further promote literacy and empowerment.

Shun Corruption Project,

The Shun Corruption Project, a collaborative effort between SCAAD Initiative, Priests Peace & Justice Initiative (PPJ), and the Student Christian Movement of Nigeria (SCM), aims to encourage citizens to register for and obtain their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) and organize pre-election sensitization programs. The project is scheduled to run from May 2022 to April 2023, with the goal of promoting fair and transparent elections in Nigeria.

Courtesy Visits

SCAAD Initiative paid a visit to Chanja Datti recycling company in Abuja to strengthen their partnership. The partnership promotes recycling of household products to empower indigent women in the Mappe area of Idu in Abuja. The initiative provides an income stream for these women, improving their livelihoods and the environment. The collaboration between SCAAD Initiative and Chanja Datti is making a positive impact in the community.

Joint Action Grants Adamawa State

The Joint Action Grants Adamawa State aims to prioritize education in Nigeria by engaging political candidates and stakeholders. The project seeks to address challenges such as a shortage of qualified teachers and inadequate funding. By promoting education as a fundamental right and foundation for development, the project aims to bring education to the forefront during the 2023 election season. The initiative is critical to Nigeria's development.
